Trip Overview

Lobuche Peak, located in the Khumbu region is one of the most adventurous and demanding trekking destinations of the world. This peak is located in the heart of the Khumbu region and offers some of the best views of mountain ranges. This peak is one of the challenging and technical climbs to reach to the summit and one should need a good physical stamina and previous trekking experience to reach to the summit of this peak. This 8000m peak climb is especially designed for those tourists and adventure lovers who wish to trek on the height above 8000m and want to gain experience on climbing the highest mountains of the world.

Lobuche Peak climb offers the spectacular views of mountain ranges including some of the highest mountain ranges of the world such as Everest (Highest mountain of the world), Lhotse, Makalu, Nuptse, Cho-Oyu, Amadablam, Island peak, Pumori, Shisshgampa, Annapurna and other many beautiful mountain ranges. Sightseeing of the unique culture and traditions of people living in the Khumbu region since many years is also another major attraction of this trek. This trek takes the visitors to some of the famous places of Khumbu region which includes Namche Bazar (Also known as the gateway of Everest), Kalapatthar (Famous viewpoint of Khumbu region), Khumbu ice fall, Everest Base camp and other many beautiful places of Himalayan region. We will also be doing the sightseeing of rare species of animals and birds that are well preserved in the Chitwan National Park.

Labuche Peak Climbing starts with the sightseeing of the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. We will then take a scenic flight to Lukla which gives you an awesome opportunity to do the sightseeing of Himalayan ranges from the aircraft. We will then trek ahead and reach the gateway of Everest, Namche Bazar and explore as well as do the sightseeing of this beautiful place. After doing the sightseeing and exploring Namche Bazar we will continue our trek and reach the ancient Thyangboche village where we will do the sightseeing of famous Thyangboche monastery. We will then trek via Pheriche to reach the summit of Lobuche peak. After doing the sightseeing of mountain range, we will trek to reach Kalapatthar form where you can get a closer view of the world’s highest mountain, Everest. We will start our challenging climb from Kalapatthar and reach the summit of this beautiful mountain. We will then return via the same route and come back to Lukla and end our beautiful journey.

 

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport and Hotel transfer

Accommodation: Hotel

You will land at Kathmandu airport and a team from Exciting Nepal will reach before your landing to pick you up. They will facilitate a quick and transfer to your hotel. You’ll make a check-in into the hotel after reaching there and our members will wave you goodbye. Lay on the bed for the rest after the long hours of air travel. Later, you get welcomed by the Exciting team including the guides for your expedition. The team will offer dinner at the hotel for your warm welcome.

Day 02: Arrangement Day

Accommodation: Hotel

This is the day that is fully dedicated to your preparation for the long expedition of Lobuche Peak. You will attend a trip briefing meeting to know everything about the itinerary. You will also meet your trekking and mountaineering guide to know each other. Your guide will provide clear information about the required climbing gear for the Lobuche peak ascend. After the meeting, you will wander around shopping places to buy any necessary things before you fly to Lukla the very next day.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding

Flight Duration: 40 minutes

Trekking Duration: 3 to 4 hours

Maximum Altitude: 2640m

And the day has come to head towards the home of Lobuche Peak, Khumbu (Everest) region. For that, you will hop into aircraft which will take just 40 minutes to drop you in the Lukla. The air time will be quite scenic where you find the entire Himalayas just out of the plain window. Your entry to the gateway of Everest will be welcomed by the locals of Lukla at Tenzing Hillary Airport(2800m).

After the quick welcome rest at Lukla, you will now head out into the woods to reach Phakding. You will head side by side of Dudh(Milk) Koshi River after passing through several settlements. Ghat(Bank) of Dudh Koshi river has a nicely painted Mani wall, you will pass through it and a forest of rhododendrons and pines. From the riverbed of Dudh Koshi, there are few uphills and downhills to reach Phakding.

Day 04: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Maximum Altitude: 3446m

Your first day has gone well and it is now time for another similar trekking day. On this day, you will stretch out to reach the hub of the Everest region, Namche Bazaar(3446m). While trekking today, you will cross many suspension bridges colored with prayer flags and gompas. After leaving Phakding behind, you will sail ahead via scenic trails of the Everest region. The trekking will become more and more fun with every step ahead. On the way today, you will pass major Sherpa settlements like Bengar, Monjo. Monjo village is the entrance to a UNESCO world heritage site, Sagarmatha National Park.

Still a few km to reach Namche, you will receive glimpses of Mt Everest, Lhotse, and other high peaks of the Khumbu region. Moving forward through several ups and downs then comes the final ascent to reach Namche Bazaar. As you may know, Namche is the most happening place in the entire Khumbu region. Arrive there and explore the town.

Day 05: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar

Accommodation: Lodge

Heading straight to the higher areas without acclimating your body to new heights raises the chances of altitude sickness. So, it is better to stay around Namche before heading higher towards the Lobuche Peak. On this day, you will involve yourself in hiking around Namche and near attractions. Namche Bazaar in itself is a big market with many shops, restaurants, cafes, and some museums to explore.

There is one more option to do while your body starts acclimatizing, a hike to the Everest View Hotel. This hotel is one of the highest placed hotels in the world which sits at an altitude of 3,880m. As its name suggests, this hotel will serve an exquisite view of Mt Everest and some other peaks while you enjoy your lunch. Thereafter, you will return to the lodge of Namche for a night stay.

Day 06: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Maximum Altitude: 3800m

Accommodation: Teahouse

After a wonderful time around Namche, it is time to leave it behind to reach Tengboche. You will start the trek by descending through Namche towards Ohunki. All over the route, you will be rewarded with white mountain views including Everest and Ama Dablam. You will reach Phunki Tenga after some hours of easy downhill trekking. Then after trekking for some more hours you’ll start to see the largest monastery of the region, Tengboche Monastery.

This monastery offers a blessing to every adventurer that walks through Tengboche’s trail. Decorated with many colorful flags and prayer wheels from outside, this monastery hosts awesome views of mountains in the north. Everest, Lobuche, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and many other peaks are glanceable in one sight from here. Not only that, but you can also celebrate a time of being at one of the largest Sherpa settlements.

Day 07: Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Maximum Altitude: 4347m

You’ll wake up with morning prayers of the Tengboche monastery and what a blissful morning that will be. After breakfast, you will kick-off the trails to reach Dingboche. The trek will be through lush trees of rhododendron and conifers along with mountain views at distant. Following the forest, you will descend to reach the river bed of Imja Khola.

And trekking over the Imja Khola via a bridge, you head up a slope trail that takes you to the Pangboche. You will take a break to explore the Pangboche village which also has a famous Pangboche Monastery. From the village, you will get visions of various Everest region mountains. After that, you move forward to Dingboche through Imja valley near to Lobuche River. Heading up from the riverbank arrives Dingboche

Day 08: Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Maximum Altitude: 4,900m

Accommodation: Teahouse

You’ll start the 8th day’s trek of the Lobuche Peak Climbing with a plan to reach Lobuche before nightfall. Now altitudes have reached around 5,000m and this part of trekking can be a bit more difficult than the past ones. You will move through a rough and steep trail to arrive at Duglha. One more steep climb takes you towards Chuki Lahara.

Then from Lahara, you will enjoy walking forward by memorial stupas for the lost ones. Now it will be a walk over the moraines of Khumbu Glacier to make it to Lobuche village. This village is the nearest settlement to Lobuche peak and from there you can take a look at various high peaks including Lobuche peak.

Day 09: Trek to Kala Patthar via Gorakshep and trace back to Gorakshep

Trekking Duration: 6 to 7 hours

Maximum Altitude: 5,545m

Accommodation: Teahouse

This is an optional trek that is included in your itinerary of Lobuche peak climbing. Lobuche Peak is so near to Mt Everest and it will be a regretting decision to not visit the Kala Patthar. So why not Kala Patthar. You also have an option to go straight to Lobuche Base Camp from Lobuche village. But, including EBC makes your expedition more memorable.

So, you trek towards Kala Patthar(5,545m) via Gorakshep. You have to return back to Gorak Shep at the end of the day, so you will check-in one of the teahouses in Gorakshep. After a rest, you will begin trekking towards Mount Everest. Don’t expect trails to be plain and easy, they get rougher and rougher as you gain length. Upon your arrival at Kala Patthar, enjoy the grand and never seen view of Mount Everest and other mountains. After all, Kala Patthar is the best viewpoint of Mt Everest and a must-visit place for every Everest admirer. Following enough views of towering white peaks, you will retrace your footprints to reach Gorakh Shep.

Day 10: Trek to Lobuche Base Camp

Maximum Altitude: 4,900m

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Accommodation: Camped Tent

This is the day when you actually head towards Lobuche Peak. That will happen just after a quick breakfast at Gorak Shep. You’ll aim for reaching Lobuche Base Camp on time. The Gorakshep-Lobuche Base Camp trail is a steep and rough track to walk over. You’ll push yourself following the footsteps of your guide. Then in a mid-way, you will see the glacier made from Lobuche Peak with bright mountain views above the glacier ground.

After rooting for Base camp for 5 to 6 hours from Gorakshep, you finally reach Lobuche Base Camp. There are no teahouses onwards from the Lobuche village so it is time to set up a tent. Your assisting companions will do that for you and it will be the first night of some more billion stars roofed night.

Day 11: Trek to Lobuche High Camp

Maximum Altitude: 5300 meters

Trekking Duration: 3-4 hours

Accommodation: Camped Tent

You will move one more step closer to the Lobuche summit by leaving for Lobuche High Camp from the Base Camp. While trekking on you will feel a change in the trails’ nature as they will have now become steeper and rougher. The trek duration is low around 3 to 4 hours but the slope is the thing that will make it long. Your team members will install a tent where you can take rest.

Later around the afternoon, your climbing guide will present some climbing skills and gear usage tips, tricks. This is all for making you competitive for the big day tomorrow, Lobuche Peak Climbing. After that, you will have enough sleep after lunch as you have to start early in the morning.

Day 12: Summit Day

Maximum Altitude: 6119 meters

Trekking Duration: 8-10 hours

Accommodation: Camped Tent

The sole goal of climbing Lobuche Peak will get accomplished today. Your breakfast will be ready quicker than before as you have to start the climb early. You will approach the southern ridge through steep and ice tracks. The ropes, crampons, and ice-axes will finally come to usage. With the assistance of your guide, you will head upward on the technical parts of Lobuche Peak. After climbing the last part i.e. 45 degrees sloped hill, you will be at the summit point of Lobuche East.

Your heart will pump out with the joy of climb success. Your celebration will become more happening with the wide panorama of the Everest region. The whole Everest region is viewable from the summit of Lobuche peak and that eyeshot will make you realize more the trip is worth every pain. After a glorious time of your life at the Lobuche summit, you will descend towards the high camp of this peak. And that will be a regular second overnight at Lobuche High Camp.

Day 13: Trek to Pheriche(4,200m)

Trekking Duration: 5-6 hours

Accommodation: Teahouse

After accomplishing the Lobuche peak, it is time to head back towards home. For that, you will start with a trek to Pheriche from Lobuche High Camp. Your walk will descend through rugged and narrow trails of Lobuche’s Base camp. Then, you will stop for lunch and rest at Lobuche village. After filling your empty stomach, you march forward to Pheriche. The entire trekking hours of the day will offer you glamorous massifs views.

Pheriche is a major Sherpa settlement and its home and farmlands are exciting to watch. It sits beside the big pasture land where you can observe many yaks grazing. And just above that pasture, there are peaks like Ama Dablam, Lobuche to glance at. The view is not describable in words; you have to go there to enjoy it. There are several basic teahouses that provide night stays and food to wanderers.

Day 14: Trek back to Tengboche(3,800m)

Trekking Duration: 4 to 5 hours

Accommodation: Teahouse

Now, you will retrace your way back to Tengboche and it will take around 4 to 5 hours to reach there. Today’s trail will be via the riverbank of Imja Khola which makes you enter Imja Valley. You will pass very nearby the Pangboche village and if you like to then you can have a tour around and rest there at Pangboche. If not then you head straight for Tengboche amid the woods of Rhododendron.

Your day’s trek will end after reaching Tengboche, the same village of Tengboche Monastery. There you can opt for visiting the monastery again and watching the mountains from its yards. Overnight at Tengboche’s teahouse.

Day 15: Trek back to Namche Bazaar(3,446m)

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Accommodation: Lodge

With early dawn after breakfast, you will move forward through a downhill trail to Namche. You have to walk the same route to reach Namche Bazaar so it will be more like a revision of the scenery around. You will repeat the same but heavenly views of peaks like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, etc.

After passing several uphills and downhills trails for nearly 6 hours, you will be back at Namche for once again. If you have missed anything to explore in Namche, you can do it today. Also, there are plenty of shops where you can buy something as a gift for your close ones.

Day 16: Trek back to Lukla(2800m)

Trekking Duration: 6 to 7 hours

Accommodation: Lodge

This will be the last trek day of the entire Lobuche Peak Climbing. You’ll still have 6 to 7 hours of the trek in the beautiful Khumbu region. Make most out of the remaining time. You’ll step your feet over already walked trails to get back to Lukla. You’ll cross the same suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi river several times.

Make sure you are looking back at the mountains as it is the last trekking day. Walk along the trail to Lukla by enjoying the view that this region provides. Have a glance at those lovely mountains thoroughly who have been your forever friends for the past few weeks. Marching for several hours and enjoying the view most of the time, you will find yourself back at Lukla.

Day 17: Fly back to Kathmandu and to the Hotel via Hotel transfer

Flight Duration: 40 minutes

Accommodation: Hotel

This may feel sad but the final day of Lobuche Peak climbing has finally arrived now.

You will head into the early flight to Kathmandu after breakfast. It will take around 40 minutes to land in Kathmandu. But before you land, take a look outside through your plain windows to see great mountains of Nepal for the last time until your next trip.

That way you will never know when your 40 minutes went away and you will land at Kathmandu airport. The hotel transfer team will already have arrived at the airport for picking you. You will get a trouble-free hotel drop to reach your hotel.
