The Poon Hill trek is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. It is easily accessible from Pokhara and although relatively short and easy grade, it offers some spectacular views of the Annapurna Range and its towering peaks. The Annapurna Region comprises thirteen peaks over 7,000 metres, the highest being Annapurna I at 8091m, the 10th highest peak in the world.
After a short drive from Pokhara, we commence our trek in Nayapul. We trek along good trails through fascinating villages of the Gurung and Magar with their terraced slopes and paddy fields. The trail winds through subtropical valleys dripping with ferns and moss, colourful stands of rhododendron and forests of bamboo.
Along the way we will stay in the interesting village of Tikhedhungga then on to Ghorepani for our second night. An early morning rise and hike to the vantage point of Poon Hill (3210m) offers stunning, unobstructed dawn views over the Himalaya including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges plus distant views to Manaslu and beyond. After breakfast back at our teahouse in Ghorepani, we head toward Ghandruk and our final night of the trek. From Ghandruk, a steep decent to Nayapul brings us to the end of the trek.
The trek starts and finishes in Pokhara. To keep cost as low as possible, we offer the flexibility for you to arrange your own transport to the start and from end of the trek if you wish. Alternatively, we are happy to arrange all connections within Nepal as well as accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara if required.
