Trip Overview

The Gokyo Valley via Renjo La Pass is a great alternative for those wishing to escape the crowds of the more popular Everest Region treks. It offers insights into the culture of the local Sherpa groups as well as providing the same spectacular views of the surrounding high mountains. It is also a great trek for those with limited time but wishing to experience some of the best trekking experience that Everest Region has to offer.

You will visit the spectacular Gokyo Valley with its beautiful lakes as well as experience the spectacular scenery of surrounding mountains. Breathtaking views of Everest (8,850m), Cho Oyu (8,201m) , Lhotse (8,516 m) and Makalu (8,463m), all over 8000m in height, as well as Ama Dablam, Nupste, Pumori, Thamserku and Kangde provide unforgettable memories.

Your trekking adventure begins with a 30 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. On the same day we trek to Phakding where we spend our first night. The following morning we trek to the bustling village of Namche Bazaar in the heart of Sherpa country. On the way you will have great view of Everest and Lhotse. We spend one extra day here to acclimatise with the chance to explore the surrounding area and villages of Kunde and Khumjung.

The journey to the Gokyo Valley ascends via the Dudh Khosi Valley in a glorious setting surrounded by towering peaks. Here in this beautiful and serene valley we spend a rest day where you can take an optional side trip around the Gokyo Valley and Lakes, or for the more adventurous, a hike to Gokyo Ri where you will have spectacular views over the high mountain peaks.

The following morning we cross Renjo La Pass, where you will have great view of the Gokyo lakes on one side, the Rermo Pokhari lakes on the other side as well as views over the gigantic snow-capped mountains that surround you. From here we descend via the Thame Valley via picturesque Sherpa villages before arriving back in Namche Bazaar. The following day we trek to Lulka for an overnight stay before catching our return flight to Kathmandu. Put this trek on your list.
