Trip Overview

The Everest Region and Mount Everest National Park is one of the worlds most iconic trekking destinations. The Three Passes Trek gives trekkers the opportunity to encounter three of the highest trekking passes in the world, Khangma-La Pass (5535m) Chola-La Pass (5368m) and Renjo La Pass (5345m). You will also get to visit Kalapatthar (5545m) for a close up view of Everest, the Gokyo Valley with its beautiful lakes, walk over Khumbu Glacier that extends from Khumbu Icefall and visit the famous Everest Base Camp (5363m). Along the way you will visit Sherpa villages and experience the unique culture and vibrant lifestyle of these friendly people.

Your trekking adventure begins with a 30 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. On the same day we trek to Phakding where we spend our first night. The following morning we trek to the bustling village of Namche Bazaar in the heart of Sherpa country. On the way you will have great view of Everest (8,850m) and Lhotse (8,516 m). We spend one extra day here to acclimatise with the chance to explore the surrounding area and villages of Kunde and Khumjung. After a further two days trekking we arrive in Dingboche, a small village set among grazing pastures where we spend another day acclimatising before we head over the first major pass at Kongma La (5535m), a further two days trek away.

During the following days we trek to Everest Base Camp (5363m) and Kalapatthar (5550m) before heading over the passes at Chola-La (5368m) and Renjo La (5338m) visiting the spectacular Gokyo Valley along the way.  All the way you will be rewarded with spectacular views over four of the world’s eight highest peaks, Everest (8,850m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Makalu (8,463m) and Cho Oyu (8,201m). After enjoying wonderful scenery from Renjo La, we descend via the Thame Valley to Namche and on to Lukla for our return flight to Kathmandu.

This famous trek is strenuous and challenging, encountering high mountain passes but you will be rewarded with spectacular scenery. If you are looking for an adventurous and unique trek with unrivalled scenery this may be the one for you.
